CranioSacral Still Point By Rosemary Brown-Tucker, RMT
We all possess an inherent ability to self-heal and we can learn to tap into this even more with a few simple craniosacral techniques. In this role we are assisting the body in its self-correction – we can enhance or facilitate this natural process. One such technique is the still-point induction. During a still-point the activity of the craniosacral system is temporarily interrupted. The benefits are: stress reduction, calms the nervous system, can reduce a fever, increases immune system effectiveness. In other words a great tonic for the body. Still-point can be induced anywhere on the body – the legs, arms, etc (be sure both sides are held equally and in the same place) In response to the craniosacral rhythm the body constantly and subtly internally and externally rotates. Using the lower legs as an example gently (only the pressure used to pick up a small glass of water) follow the legs through a few cycles then follow and hold in internal rotation . You may notice the subtle force of the body wanting to go into external rotation but gently resist those attempts until finally the body stops and the still- point is induced. Hold this for 5 – 15 minutes. Afterwards assess the craniosacral rhythm and a more robust and symmetrical feel may be noticed. This may be repeated daily to great benefit.
The Network Healing Centre is pleased to welcome Erin Whyte, RMT to our Massage Therapy team!
Erin's approach to massage therapy is an integration of both body and mind. Since starting her practice as a therapist she has had a keen interest in providing people with the tools that they need to become more connected with and aware of their body. She believes that the most powerful healer is found within yourself and that she is merely a helping hand in the enhancement of your health and quality of life.
Along with a strong therapeutic background in musculoskeletal injuries and experience in treating a range of conditions Erin seeks to contribute not only to the physical but also to the emotional well-being of her clients. Her philosophy of care includes integrity and compassion and she will provide these in an environment conducive to safe touch.
Erin is excited to be joining the Network Healing Centre and with this new step in her career hopes to inspire you to a new level of quality of life. She looks forward to meeting you on your path towards healing and optimal health!
Erin will be joining us part-time until December 18th when she will become our full-time Massage Therapist.
I found this inspiring, hope you do as well…… Contributed by Dr. Michael Tucker, D.C.
"With regard to vision is mind, I'll give this example
about one of my first experiences in America. One of the culture shocks for me
coming to the West was first opening a big refrigerator. Late one night after
just arriving in the United States, I was with friends and we were saying to
each other, "Let's cook something." There was a huge fridge, the kind you only
see in the United States - and you'll find them even in single small houses! In
most other places in the world there are refrigerators but none that big.
So, using the fridge as an example, just as you open the
fridge, so do you open up your life. And when you open your life, what do you
see? There is the opportunity to see, "Oh, life is full. We have milk. We
have yogurt. We have this. We have that." You can see it's full, so full!
Or, you may open it and see, "The onion is missing; my life is empty."
[laughter] You aren't able to see how full it is because the absence of the
onion is so powerful.
